Continuous Sodium Hypochlorite Process System
Advantages
The Powell Continuous Sodium Hypochlorite Process System is designed to manufacture
sodium hypochlorite with greater efficiency and higher quality than previously obtainable
with batch or continuous methods.
The process, which uses liquid or vapor chlorine and caustic, is versatile and has
the design capability of making any concentration of sodium hypochlorite solution
from 20 to 200 grams per liter available chlorine.
The Powell Continuous Sodium Hypochlorite Process System is constructed of high
quality components to ensure long service life with a minimum amount of maintenance.
In addition, mechanical refrigeration is not required to cool the process. Titanium
plate heat exchangers utilize water from a cooling tower to cool the process. The
unit is housed in a structural steel frame so that it can be completely fabricated
in our factory and easily shipped as a complete unit to your site.
The continuous process system also eliminates the need for mechanical refrigeration
which is typically required when bleach is produced by other methods. The system
utilizes cooling tower water for cooling resulting in considerable energy savings,
lower equipment costs, and lower maintenance costs.
The Powell Continuous Sodium Hypochlorite Process Equipment can be designed to use
pressurized dry liquid or vapor chlorine or wet vapor chlorine from electrolytic
cells.
Dry Liquid or Vapor System
This system is available in two basic designs. One that utilizes pressurized dry
vapor chlorine or pressurized dry liquid chlorine. Standard systems are designed
to produce concentrations from 20-200 grams per liter available chlorine with production
rates from 25-150 gallons per minute which is equivalent to 30-200 STPD of chlorine.

Wet Vapor Chlorine from Electrolytic Cells
This system utilizes wet vapor chlorine directly from electrolytic cells. Standard
systems are designed to produce concentrations from 125 to 200 grams per liter available
chlorine with production rates from 40-150 gallons per minute which is equivalent
to 50-200 STPD of chlorine.
