Emergency Gas Shut Off Valve Closure Systems for Hazardous Gases Such as Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM)
About Vinyl Chloride Monomer
Vinyl Chloride Monomer is a colorless gas with a slightly sweet aroma at standard temperature and pressure. It is an inhalation hazard and has been linked with the formation of angiosarcoma. In the presence of air, Vinyl Chloride Monomer is an explosion hazard as well. Upon standing, it can produce peroxides, which may then explode.
Vinyl Chloride Monomer is used almost exclusively in the production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It is shipped in pressurized tank cars having angle plug or angle ball valves.
Prevent Accidental Release of Vinyl Chloride Monomer
Powell's Emergency Gas Shut Off Valve Closure Systems are designed to prevent significant releases of hazardous gases like vinyl chlorie monomer. In the case of an accidental release, the emergency valve closure system will close the valves in 10 seconds or less, effectively preventing further release from the container.
