Shut Off Systems for Hazardous Gases Such as
Hydrogen Chloride (HCl)
About Hydrogen Chloride
Hydrogen Chloride is a colorless to slightly yellow, non-flammable gas at standard temperature and pressure with a pungent, irritating odor. Mixed with water, it becomes hydrochloric acid (also known as Muriatic acid). Exposure to HCl can result in irritation to the eyes, throat and skin. Prolonged exposure to Hydrogen Chloride can cause death.
Hydrogen Chloride is used as a cleaning gas during epitaxial deposition and as a furnace cleaning agent. It is shipped in pressurized tank cars with angle plug or angle ball valves.
Prevent Accidental Release of Hydrogen Chloride
Powell's Emergency Gas Shut Off Valve Closure Systems are designed to prevent significant releases of hazardous gases like Hydrogen Chloride. In the case of an accidental release, the emergency valve closure system will close the valves in 10 seconds or less, effectively preventing further release from the container.
