Engineering

The Engineering Department at Powell houses the Project Management and CAD groups, as well as traditional engineering functions including Control Systems Design and Programming and Product Development. Collectively, the department has more than 150 years of combined experience in the design of innovative bleach equipment to serve specific customer needs. Powell has developed state-of-the-art technology using quality equipment to ensure that each customer's technical requirements are met with greater efficiency and reduced downtime. Our engineers are recognized around the world as experts in the specialized functions our products fulfill and the unique environments in which they operate.

Project Management

With four certified P.E.s on staff, along with numerous other engineers with expertise in a variety of relevant disciplines and a wealth of specialized training, Powell has the hands-on experience to build custom designed products for unique customer needs. At Powell, each project is assigned to an engineer who functions as a project manager to personally oversee the project from design conception to completion. The project manager originates the prints the equipment will be built from, creates the bill of material, coordinates parts ordering, and is involved throughout the production process to ensure that all equipment is built to specifications and the highest standards are maintained.

Computer Automated Design

At Powell, the CAD Group supports the Engineering Department with detailed prints, 3D animations, and a variety of engineering drawings.

Control Systems Design and Programming

The brains of the Powell engineered system is the control system. Powell has a variety of control system options available and can supply a complete bleach plant control system that has been designed, assembled, programmed and tested for a variety of site-specific applications. Powell control systems are fabricated and programmed on-site, using current Allen-Bradley control and communication technology.

Enhancements available include phone modems that allow for on-line programming enhancements and enable Powell personnel to provide technical assistance; paging capabilities that alert plant staff to critical after-hours alarms; and one-touch start-up and color display screens for operator interface.

Product Development

A comprehensive understanding of design, production, marketing, and sales, along with a solid technical background and ace communication skills, are the key components of a successful product development effort. The strategic objectives of the company call for major R&D focus on the innovative valve closure line as well as continued emphasis on technological advancements for our core technology. Both of these efforts are moving ahead under the capable direction of the engineering personnel charged with these efforts.
