Factors to Define Bleach Production and Equipment Needs
Powell Fabrication and Manufacturing Inc. have made bleach plant equipment and chlorine
scrubbing equipment for many years. Our first continuous sodium hypochlorite plant was
produced in 1966. Currently, Powell Equipment in the US and Canada accounts for
approximately 75% of the bleach production for both 5.5% and 16% bleach.
To assist in a
successful system installation, Powell can also supply all the auxiliary equipment such as
pumps, chlorine-unloading equipment, cooling towers, chlorine scrubbers and other required
equipment.
For example; to market high quality bleach to household bottle companies, most contaminants
such as nickel need to be removed. Powell sells a high volume, high quality filter system to
remove contaminants before the bleach is shipped.
We also make special units as required and currently have a unit that will handle 9 tons an hour
using liquid chlorine, soft water, 50% caustic, and cooling tower water to produce 36,000 gallons
per hour of 5.5% bleach.
We will design the unit to meet your plant needs using liquid chlorine, wet or dry vapor chorine at
atmospheric pressure or higher, 32% or 50% caustic (typical), any water for process such as soft
or demineralized, and cooling tower water. Chilled water for cooling is not required in our
process.
Information Required for Quoting the Powell System
Please review the comments and questions below. This information must be provided to help us
design and price the Powell bleach production system. After we receive this information we can
provide preliminary flow sheets and a typical layout for discussion.
